Oakland Residential Wall Covering Installation

Paperhanging and wall covering

Paperhanging, is, well, essentially that – hanging paper. But it is not as simple as it sounds. Paperhanging and wall covering installation takes years of experience, expertise, and craftsmanship to ensure that the walls of your rooms will have a professional finish for years to come.

Working with delicate fabrics such as sheer silk, silk blends, wools, leathers, manufactured leathers, and linens can be tricky. Fortunately, Tim has an expansive knowledge of all these materials and is open to discuss the pros and cons of each to help you decide which application is best suited for your needs and desires. Since Tim knows what should or should not be put where and why, the longevity of your beautiful and elegant walls are instantly improved and the risks of damage are mitigated. If you have small children or pets, choosing the right material is an important decision. Tim Little makes himself available to communicate with his clients through every step of the process. Plus, he knows how to specify products for your specific job, saving you both time, money, and energy.

Some are surprised by the myriad of equipment that Tim brings to the job site. Tim Little is no ordinary builder or contractor. He invests in specialty tools and tapes that ensure the protection of surfaces to prevent against cutting the under surface or staining the wall covering. High-grade, razor-edged tools producing an accurate, precise trimming of your wall covering. Tim has equipped his business with the highest form of laser precision. He uses the most advanced Laser Plumb Bob on the market. His sophisticated tripod elevator adjusts to any situation to target any alignment imperfections. Little is dedicated to keeping up-to-date with the latest innovative paperhanging and wall covering methods and uses the resources of his Guild, NGPP to his best advantage.

A seamless finish

Tim Little will not rush a project. He knows that when dealing with very expensive wall coverings and papers, haste is not something that mixes well. He has the utmost respect not only for the walls of your home, but also for the exotic and expensive wall coverings he installs. He considers the seams, because sometimes you can’t ignore them, as part of the architecture and makes sure that they are balanced in a way that they become part of the final result. Most of the time, the seams just disappear, but when they don’t you want someone that can make them balance within the room and not throw the art of the work to be hung, off. Rest assured knowing that Tim will create a smooth and unified look.

Wallpaper Removal

If you already have wallpaper on your walls the do-it-yourself attitude may be tempting. However, the removal process is more tedious and difficult than you may think. Most homeowners become overwhelmed and wind up wasting more time and money than they would have if they hired a professional. Old wallpaper may be non-strippable and only removed by soaking or steaming.

Besides walls?

Tim knows that the last thing a party host wants to do is leave his or her guests waiting. Fortunately, there is a solution to the endless hours of dusting, cleaning, and polishing silverware.

Pacific Silvercloth and Kenized Flannel are high-class, tarnish-preventing fabrics that keeps both fine sterling silver and gold clean, bright, and shining between uses. These materials can be used anywhere valuable silver pieces are stored. Tim has lined many cabinets, pantries, and drawers in the Berkeley area with these exclusive, velvety-soft fabrics.

Getting Started

While Tim can help with many important aspects of the design process, an interior designer has a broader idea of how to bring an entire room together. Tim only works with one (arguably the most important) aspect of your room – your walls. However, he is sure to make himself available to communicate directly with your interior designer to better understand your unique vision, be it traditional or avant-garde.

Having installed many wallpaper coverings in the San Francisco area, Little may be able to help you find a trusted and qualified interior designer that is sure to create depth and give your room a sense of luxury.

Measurements

Before transforming your walls, Tim must take detailed measurements of them. Top-of-the-line wallpaper can come at a high price, so he is careful to make exact measurements so there will be no surprises and adequate material to work with.

Making a deposit

Wallpaper has become once again, very popular in the Berkeley area, so Tim's calendar can fill up very quickly.

Before installation begins, a deposit is required to guarantee you a spot on the calendar. This should be sent well in advance of the tentative project date. Sending the deposit at the last moment prior to your start date will only place you behind all of the deposits received up to that point.

How long will this job take?

Basically, Tim can give you an estimate of the time it will take to prepare and execute the work for any given room you should like to decorate. Of course, if you are working though a contractor, it’s important that your contractor stay a few steps ahead of Tim in preparing the space considering any changes, paint, drywall, molding etc. Tim will leave the wallpaper selection up to you and your design professional or team. It is important to be comfortable with the choices you make. Like the clothes you wear, Tim understands that the walls of your house should be an extension of your own unique personality.
